Data Retention & Deletion Policy

Effective date: June 26, 2026

PawVibe keeps information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Data retention by type

Data type	Retention rule
Live check-ins on public map	Displayed for approximately 2 hours, then removed from public view.
Check-in history (tied to account)	Avoid showing long-term public history by default. Retain private/backend records only as needed for safety, abuse, analytics, or legal reasons.
Aggregated park trends	May be retained indefinitely if de-identified and not reasonably linkable to a person.
Deleted accounts	Delete or de-identify profile information within 30 days unless retention is required for legal, security, accounting, dispute, or fraud reasons.
Provider records	Retain while active and for a reasonable period after cancellation for business, accounting, dispute, and legal compliance.
Email marketing consent logs	Retain as needed to prove consent and unsubscribe status.

How to request deletion

To request deletion of your data, email hello@pawvibe.ca with the subject line "Data deletion request." Please include:

Your email address or account identifier
What data you would like deleted (e.g., account profile, all check-in history, all dog profiles)

We may verify your identity and may retain limited information where required or permitted by law (security, legal obligation, fraud prevention, or accounting).

Privacy assurance

Anonymous check-ins: Your name is never shown publicly on the map.
Auto-expiry: Public check-ins expire after 2 hours automatically.
No background tracking: We don't follow your location when you're not using PawVibe.
Minimal retention: Backend records are deleted or aggregated after security and legal needs are met.

Your data is yours: You can export your profile and check-in history or delete everything at any time.
